I am a certified CCS-P coder with over 7 years of medical billing and coding. All of my experience is with physician’s offices. However, the remote work posted is usually for hospital coding. How difficult is it to get into hospital coding? What steps must be taken? How different is the billing?

    Thanks.

  8. Lisa Mills says:

    Derinda,

I wish I could answer your question. But I don’t know anything about what’s involved in making the transition from regular medical billing and coding to hospital coding. You might contact someone at Career Step. I’m sure they would be able to give you a better idea.

  9. Jan says:

I graduated in July with an Associate degree in medical billing & coding. During my courses, I’ve done lots of inpatient/outpatient coding & was able to maintain an “A” average in all my coding classes. I plan to take my certification in August. I also have 17 years of nursing background in the hospital setting. Would I be considered for a medical coding position without my certification?

  10. Lisa Mills says:

Hi Jan, you need to follow the job listing link and make contact with someone at HCA about the medical coding position. I provide all the details I have about these work-at-home positions. But, unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to your question about certification.
