KidPub Press, a publisher of books written by kids ages 8 to 19, is seeking a work-at-home copy editor to work on a 1099 basis. You will be performing light clean-up (spelling, some grammar, punctuation). The goal is to publish books that are grammatically correct, with correct spelling, but not to obscure the voice of the child author.
You must be comfortable working swiftly and accurately. Most typically edit 20+ pages per hour. The company uses Dropbox for workflow and Microsoft Word. Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
There won’t be many hours at first. But if you do quality work quickly and accurately, your role could grow. You can expect 10 to 12 hours per week for the first several weeks. Compensation is $10 per hour to start, and you will be paid monthly.
Manuscripts waiting to be edited are stored in Dropbox. You simply choose a book and begin working. Upon completion, you simply return the edited manuscript to Dropbox.
This is a great opportunity for someone who learns quickly and is interested in the industry. If interested in this freelance position, please forward your resume to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate if you have a copy of InDesign/CS5.5. Good luck!
