OkCupid is hiring a home-based community moderator in the U.S. This is a temporary 3-month contract position, with the opportunity to join the company full-time with excellent performance.
Hours for this home-based position are 40 per week, and scheduling is flexible.
What you’ll be doing in this remote role (from job listing):
- Work in a queue-based environment
- Review content including profiles, photos, and messages
- Detect and remove users violating our Terms of Service from the site
- Handle critical reports about sensitive topics that require tact and attention to detail
- Work closely with the moderation team, as well as Legal and Support
- Assist on special projects as needed

Requirements (from work-at-home job listing):
- Prior experience (2+ years) with website moderation and/or digital fraud prevention
- Excellent attention to detail
- Deep understanding of internet norms and interactions
- Experience troubleshooting complicated scenarios
- Strong pattern recognition and research skills
- Excellent judgement, including knowing when to escalate and how to prioritize
- Sensitivity to a diverse and global user base
- Real passion for helping people
- The ability to work reliably and independently from home
- A well-written cover letter stating why you’re excited to work for OkCupid
Bonus points (but not required):
- Fluency in a second language (Hebrew especially, but also Hindi, Tagalog, Arabic or German)
- Prior experience working with legal teams, law enforcement, or crisis helplines
- Familiarity with OkCupid
