NORC Hiring Home-Based Field Interviewers for Native American Study

NORC at the University of Chicago is currently seeking home-based field interviewers in Cherokee, NC and other tribal areas in the U.S for important research work.  You must live within a reasonable driving distance of the study locations.

You will be conducting in-person interviews with Native American residents. This national study will focus on the housing needs and conditions of tribal families. Field work opportunities are also available in other tribal areas.

You must be trustworthy, outgoing, and persuasive, as you must gain the trust and cooperation of the residents of sampled households, while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. These are temporary positions.

Requirements (from employment listing):

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree or college coursework in social science or related field preferred)
  • Previous data collection or field interviewing experience highly preferred
  • Familiarity and comfort using computers and accessing the Internet is strongly preferred
  • A car will be required for the interviewing task.
  • NORC also requires interviewers to have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage as required by the state of residence.

If hired, you will attend a paid training by phone.  You must be available to work from 20 – 35 hours/week on a flexible schedule, which includes some weeknights and weekends.  If interested in learning more about this work-from-home position and other areas in which the position may be open, please see the job listing.
