Pop culture site Snakkle is seeking a work-at-home online editor to conceptualize and write content, as well as create editorial pitches. You will also be overseeing deadlines, editing the work of freelancers, managing a database of images and content, and promoting the site across the Internet.
Requirements (from employment listing):
- Self-starter, independent thinker who is excited about growing with a company and learning new skills
- Strong writing and editing, an understanding of MLA style is a plus
- An interest in Digital Media and Pop Culture Entertainment industry
- Strong communication skills needed for working with major news partners
- An ability to anticipate and act, someone the EIC can lean on for support and trust to carry out important tasks
- Ability to work from home with fast digital access, telecommute [for non-LA residents]
- Can meet hold and deadlines (short-term and long-term)
- Very detailed oriented, an almost obsessive desire to make sure copy and facts are accurate
- Fast learner, not intimidated by trying new platforms or testing out or learning digital interfaces
- Must be able to juggle ongoing projects with the immediacy of EIC’s needs
Bonus Points:
- Some CMS or HTML experience
- Basic Photoshop and Word Press
- Experience in online advertising, project management
- Research and fact checking experience
- Copy editing experience
- An interest in learning more about successful digital business models and online advertising
- A love of all things pop culture
