Shmoop, a digital curriculum company, is seeking work at home humorous content writers to contribute in the areas of: Literature (particularly Poetry, Young Adult, Bestsellers, African American, and American Literature), Bible, History, Music, Biography, Finances, Math, Science, and AP/Test Prep.

Specifically, the company is seeking freelance writers who are “passionate about their subject(s), are well informed about current events and today’s youth culture, and have a great sense of humor.”

Requirements (from work-at-home job listing):

  • You must make our jobs team laugh in the first paragraph of your cover letter. Otherwise, it will enter our stylish-yet-functional shredder.
  • Recent or current Ph.D. required–er, um, not really required actually.  You just really have to accomplish #1 above. The laughing thing.  Oh, also you have to be able to read. (High standards here.)
  • Self-starting, flexible, and comfortable working independently.
  • Passion for, and understanding of, great works of literature (classic and contemporary), as well as communicating that passion to others.

The job is flexible.  You set your own hours. You will be paid per completed writing project.
