BlankSlate is seeking freelance writers to contribute to QueensNYC.com, a site all about places to live, things to do, and where to eat in Queens. They are specifically seeking people who are extremely familiar with Queens to create content regarding activities in the borough, particularly regarding real estate and development.
You must have an in-depth understanding of the borough’s history, including the history of different neighborhoods, the growing tech scene in Western Queens, sustainable building initiatives, and more. You must be socially savvy and comfortable meeting with real estate agents, politicians, and community members.
Additionally, you must have excellent written (including grammar and spelling) abilities, and you must be able to meet tight deadlines. The right candidate will be able to follow editorial direction while maintaining the style, direction, and voice of the site. A sense of humor, tempered with sophistication is a must.
You must be experienced in utilizing WPress and Photoshop, and you must be fluent in social media. You must also be a good photographer with some editing abilities. Finally, you must be an avid follower of local city news and blogs.
