Caption Colorado (now VITAC) is hiring home-based transcriptionists in the U.S. for general work at home transcription as well as real-time television captioning.

“Our Voice Transcriptionists work from home and enjoy a flexible work schedule.  Employees are provided training prior to transcribing for our customers.  They start out working on a part-time basis with the opportunity to become full-time.”

Requirements (from work-at-home job listing):

  • Achieved a voice writing certification with high degree of accuracy (98.5% or better).  Broadcast captioning specialization preferred. Prior experience may also be considered.
  • Experienced in the development and maintenance of a dictionary of news vocabulary
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently; a clear speaking voice and excellent enunciation skills
  • Dedicated to ongoing process of improving skills throughout career
  • Good cultural and news general knowledge
  • Detail oriented; follows procedures
  • Some technical familiarity with computers
  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable and punctual; exceptional customer service skills; team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and able to learn new systems quickly

Candidates who qualify for these work at home transcription positions will be invited to Colorado for initial training and onboarding.

The company offers its work at home transcription employees hourly base pay, plus incentive pay for certain events, as well as incentive bonuses, health insurance (full-time), and a 401K program.
