Home-Based General Transcription Jobs with GS5

Federal contractor GS5 is seeking home-based general transcriptionists in the U.S. These home-based jobs are independent contractor positions.

GS5 provides a range of support services to Intelligence and Command and Control communities within the Department of Defense.

All home-based transcriptionists must have their high school diploma or its equivalent (GED).

Qualifications (from work-at-home job listing):

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be a fluent English speaker with keen ear / understanding of English
  • Must own a computer with high- speed internet access
  • Ability to transcribe at least 4 hours of audio within a week
  • Ability to transcribe in adherence to formatting standards
  • Ability to ensure all transcripts meet or surpass 98% accuracy
  • Microsoft Word
  • Quality headphones
  • Must be an efficient typist with excellent spelling and grammatical skills
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Works efficiently under strict deadlines
  • Transcriber will be hired as 1099 contract worker and be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • Contractor will work from home and can live anywhere in the United States.

Home-Based Job Description (from listing):

  • Provide transcriptions that are complete, accurate and reflect the full and complete verbatim record of recordings provided. The volume
    of work currently consists of approximately 40 hours of interviews. The
    audio is in the English language.
  • Perform ongoing
    quality reviews of transcription consisting of proof listening and reading of
    reports for content, grammar, spelling and contextual accuracy.
  • Record transcriptions using MS Word and labeled with the same file name as the audio recording
    transcribed from.
  • Provide daily updates/progress.
  • Provide report upon completion of project.
