SmartBrief Hiring Freelance News Summarizers for Morning Shift

dahlia-pink-yellow-close-imageSmartBrief is seeking freelance writers for early morning and overnight shifts.  You will be condensing complex news articles into one or two-word sentences for daily email newsletters sent out across multiple industries, including healthcare, energy, education, and media.

You must be deadline-driven and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.  Candidates would need to be able to start between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. EST, Monday through Friday.  If you’re available to work prior to 5:00 a.m., the company may have even more opportunities for you.  Expected hours are between two and four each weekday.

 

Specific Responsibilities (from freelance employment listing):

  • Search the Web to locate news articles and other information sources of interest to senior executives.
  • Select and summarize online articles, studies and other information for use in e-mail publications.
  • Use online publishing tools to create e-mail newsletters and other content.

You must have excellent writing abilities (timed test is given), and you must be able to write quickly and accurately on a deadline.  You must also have superior Internet research skills and be capable of finding news and information relevant to newsletter readers.

Finally, you must have knowledge of AP style, the ability to use online publishing tools, strong interpersonal communication abilities, and an established record of working well with others and meeting deadlines.
