Work from Home: Optum Hiring Remote Investigation Specialists

Optum is hiring remote investigation specialists in the U.S. These are full-time, Monday thru Friday positions, with occasional overtime or weekends.

Training will take place virtually, from your home office, over two to four weeks.

“Positions in this function are responsible for investigating, recovering and resolving all types of claims as well as recovery and resolution for health plans, commercial customers and government entities. May include initiating telephone calls to members, providers and other insurance companies to gather coordination of benefits data. Investigate and pursue recoveries and payables on subrogation claims and file management. Process recovery on claims. Ensure adherence to state and federal compliance policies, reimbursement policies and contract compliance. May conduct contestable investigations to review medical history. May monitor large claims including transplant cases.”

Requirements (from work-at-home job listing):

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

  • Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications (ability to learn new and complex computer system applications)

  • Ability to work any 8-hour shift between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM from Monday – Friday including the flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays based on business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in any of these areas: Health Insurance, Insurance Billing, Property & Casualty, Auto Insurance, Workers Compensation, Law Firm, OR Subrogation

  • 1+ years of experience in Claims Recovery and Resolution

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

  • Previous Health Insurance background

  • Previous Coding and / OR Claims experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates in documents) and Microsoft Excel (data entry, sort, filter, and work within tables in spreadsheets)

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)

  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to navigate a computer while on the phone
