The Columbia Journalism Review is seeking a part-time freelance correspondent based in one of the following U.S. states for its United States Project in 2013: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, or Wisconsin. This is a work-at-home position.

You will monitor coverage of politics and policy issues in media across the region, while developing relationships with editors, reporters, and producers. Responsibilities (from job listing) will include: “writing roughly two media criticism posts for publication on CJR.org, spotlighting particularly outstanding or lackluster work, and identifying avenues for stronger coverage.”

You will also be responsible for outreach to political journalists in the region to suggest story ideas and promote posts at CJR.org, as well as solicit suggestions for how the review can provide helpful resources for reporters. A minimum of 3-5 years in news reporting is preferred.  Experience in politics and policy coverage is a plus.

You must be a news junkie with strong communication abilities and experience utilizing social media.  Compensation is $1500 per month. Expected hours are roughly 15 per week, on a flexible schedule.

If interested in this home-based opportunity, please email your resume and a cover letter detailing your interest, applicable experience, and qualifications to: unitedstatesprojectcjr@gmail.com.  You can also see the original job listing at JournalismJobs. Good luck!
